I still have a LOT to learn about this XOC overclocking stuff...

OMG. I have been laughing for the last 15 min. I'm a ford senior master tech. I have been there so many times where i could just put a match to it. but i thought you got 18000 out of that card at one point.
i need ur help brother i recently followed u on twitter ( Obaid or xReddevilxx ) someone hacked my account. he changed the email in it n it cost me so much. please do me a favour n help me recover it please.
This is what I do on my "mind" meditation: go into a room, close the door, and record myself. When I listen to it afterword, I realize how silly I am! Like you, though, I *hate* to give up! Keep trying .. practice makes perfect! ;-)
Linus probably breathing down jay neck (hehe) 😂🤣😜
22:10 basically this is me after trying to OC my RAM (3200 to 3600 which I *know* Micron E-Die will do) and CPU to even some basic level. Needless to say my rig is running stock now because I'd rather not go insane like this again
So in extreme overclocking you have to chill things down before you launch just like how they chill the turbopumps before a rocket launch.
I wouldn't call it a moment of weakness brother. It shows you're human like us and not impervious to challenges but you keep on keeping on. I'm like you in that sense. I fix things and I need to know WHY something is doing what it is doing not just get dumb lucky and have it work right due to a "reset".
Jay, while I am sure you're beyond frustrated and everything on this (I was rooting for you man, and i know frustrations like that), this video wasn't a "bad" video. it showed that you're human, it showed that even big IRworldr's have their moments. Make content that YOU want to make, not just because you think the audience will/will not like it. If you're done because this is annoying to figure out, cool, i totally get it. if you're going to stop because you think the viewers dislike it, relax man. at time of comment, you had 19k likes and only 567 dislikes. seems to me that people still enjoyed this. Stay safe and have a great evening.
my guy, this is an easy fix. just chuck an LS in there and let er rip
WHY ???
Sorry Jay, but you are not working in a linear behaviour of, A results in B. You are having MANY different "Settings" which change during this run beside "software". Every component will start to act strange if you go LN2 and the temperatures steadly sinks. Strange effects on some parts like Poscap and PowerICs which cant "switch fast enough" anymore in high current states as these are massive dropping in temperatur through cooling of the PCB itself. Or start switching "to fast" and the "current-delay" is needed from the GPU to jump savely between powerstates of "boosting". Try an test if the "now it freezes at any setting" will disapear if the Board gets time to warm up 10-20°C something. Its not brandnew knowledge and not 100% compareable but i can remember some CPU which wouldnt even boot when below -50°C. Some had to be in full load to be cooled down further and the applied the OC (on the fly) etc. just my 2 cents, maybe this comment reaches you or can help you to "pin"down the king"pin"
Here we see the hidden origin story of Dr Freez, it's not a story Batman would tell ya!
Thank you for being honest Jay. Love the video! Sorry you didn't have fun, I've definitely been there before while working on a project.
irworld.info/show/fy-lm-h-y/goqnqMeAa8N70qI.html Jay, Jay Jayison...
I wonder if the c-clamp is pushing the paste out of the middle of the chip with too much pressure and causing a void, cause both of the mounts were done with the clamp rather than the bracket to start. Still i can understand your frustration, there are a lot of variables that could be causing problems and you can easily feel out of control when you focus on some things and others arn't working in your favour.
Finlay, that was just dumb anyway. Synthetic benchmarks are like blow up rubber dolls, look like good idea but with no positive outcome. Overclocking have no practical implementation at user level anyway.
Leave this project for the moment, cool down, take stock and do more research. Listen to other people and then come back with this in a month or two. I've learnt so much from your channel and don't like seeing you upset. Relax, research and it'll happen.
Did you remove your microphone that is too close to the computer?
I know this is about the graphics card, but I kinda wanna see that CPU temp..
So instead of playing computer games, the game is now mucking with the equipment :D Its fair enough - whichever is more fun that day, I'm all for it...
On second thought.... Jay, can you build me a computer rig, that stays cool using a process of making distilled water!? Please? I get thirsty, you know and the distiller in my kitchen runs up the electric bill...
"Pissing into a fan in a dark room" :D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Please keep trying this. This is my favorite content on the channel. Best of luck
Jayson think of some another hobby you can do to show your audience 😂😂🤣🤣🤣😊😊😊😎😎😎 like more about computer parts and specs and reviews and how to build budget systems as well my opinion and thinking 👌👌🤞🤞🤞😊😊😀😀👍👍👍😉😉😉
Don't quit LN2 Jay. Take a break and engage the community, do more research and keep trying. The only way you will understand is to persist.
Firstly, Lorazepam is your friend. 🤣 Secondly, you are a great tech guy and your channel gives us a lot of useful information. When I first started watching this particular video, I was like, OK, Jay is human, no problem. Then I started grasping what you were doing, and thought to myself, why!? Messing around with liquid nitrogen on computer components that were never, ever designed for stuff like this, isn't "frustrating," but just nutz and in no way practical for anybody? 🤷♂️ I know, for entertainment value, and "science" it is interesting to know "limits of things." However, you already stated that you have collogues and know of others who have successful gone further. Why did you have to prove that YOU could do it? It could be the cards you received were not as good as what other people received... IDK, but don't sweat it. Thanks for all of the great content over the years! 👍 PS: You should be wearing eye protection when doing such things... a splash of that stuff in your eyes could really be "frustrating," which is an understatement.
When the fun stops stop
Yes. Give up.
Jay on twitter is like watching the Hulk smash people in half
As much paste that is making it's way to the outside vs how much is in the middle makes me wonder if you're getting too much pressure. The more pressure you add, the less space there is going to be for paste and therefore move it away from the center to the edges.
it's quite clear you have a bad section of silicon. you can run any bench 1.000.000 times but when it hits that transistor it corrupts and you crash. run it again the odds of hitting that transistor is 1 in 1 billion with today's transistor count. unlike cpu u cant define the core load so you have 0 control. pull all settings back to below minimum default and try again. odds are it will crash n a different place. you killed the GPU bro
lmao luis rossman. so 2018
My life work as a technician for 40 years is to troubleshoot equipment. Troubleshooting is not getting angry because the equipment won't comply with your expectations. Creating a test situation that can be measured to improve performance or "decrease performance" is a learning opportunity to improve the equipment. I would suggest sleeping on it. Countless times I worked for days or weeks on a project, went to bed and the work turned over and over in my mind sometimes for hours, and I woke up with a solution that not only worked but improved the equipment.
A Cause B?
Time for a 3090 Kingpin giveaway?
I assume, that is kind of normal, that someone is disappointed! But that's totally normal! If you want something stock, build a PC an go for it. If you going to take it to the next level there is the big galaxy of know how mystery. Not everything can go well for the first times. Thank's for sharing! Great video. ;-)
Jay, i thought you weren't supposed to show us the inside of these pots.
Ngl I kinda thought he was building a bomb at the start
He didn’t clean install nvidia driver!!
I watched the other one first, accidentally. So, I know the outcome, now It's like SPOILERS MAN!!!!
reminds me of "back in the day", trying to get my i5 660 past 5000 mhz. There were plenty doing it, but dang it, 4997, 4998.....so dam close, nothing seemed to make a difference in a positive way....bailed on it, and got a 7700k engineering sample....waaaaay more fun lol
Do what brings you joy Jay.
rage against the machine
IDK about everyone else but i have always liked these videos
u should visit Vince :) take few lessons
lol you're addicted XD
Daaaaamn i never have remotly done anything like this but i can feel the frustration coming within the 1st crashes eventhough i don't even know what is going on lol but still, nice video i love the explaining and stuff, helps to learn new things about PC overall
The literal best part is the censoring using the sub button.
Hugz
Is Jay using an LTT bottle because Linus gave him one or because he like it and bought one himself? 🤔
Wasn’t as bad as i thought he would act.
I have destroyed so many great pc parts over the years from extreme cooling/overclocking. I'm content in life now to just save my money and leave things pretty much alone. Rarely overclock anything now as the gains for everyday use really are miniscule anyway. Being retired and on a fixed income now also plays a factor in these decisions lol!
Jay, hello from alabama. I just wanted to say I love your videos and you seem like your pretty compitent when it comes to overclocking.......BUT from past experience I can tell you that you are using way and I mean way to much nitrogen!!!!! It's been a while but I use to torture test cpus in the early 6.5l chevrolet diesel from the ninties. Heat was killing the little primitive computer that controlled your injection pump and some other stuff and your truck would die and leave you stranded but sometimes it would restart after you let the truck cool off, doing repitions was how we fixed this problem and if it got to cold it would do the same as to hott. Take a old air cooler and use a syrange to inject the nitrogen directly into the tube and then seal it. Don't over complicate this Jay! Just snip off a corner with some pliers and fill the tube and then just crimp the end flat on the cooler and go at it! It's hard to create these temperatures on the bench but this is the most efficient way we came up with and it worked excellent! I don't know if this will work for what your trying to do like max out in a leaderboard oc contest but how bout you tell me how it goes after you try it twice because the first one of ours was a disaster but it only took once more and we could keep our chipset at a constant temperature below zero but the temp varied between tests for testing purposes but we could accurately control temps and truly torture test the chips on the bench! My email is colegrove4x4@gmail.com let me know what happens. Later
Mate I've been there with water cooling... and it can be a nightmare so we feel your pain, however I love these because you're getting the real world problems us overclockers get so stick with it and keep these videos going!!!
I wonder how many times Phil laughs while editing these vids haha
lol
we need a proper debugger for 3dmark
oh dude, just think of us C++ developers, we are frustrated, you are just having a good time really :)
looks like a driver issue ?
Poor Jay! Fingers crossed for your next tries and you will break all the King Pin records! I am sure 🤞🏻👍🏻
Getting extremely angry before figuring out what's wrong? That's just PC troubleshooting 101
I've never seen the point to doing this at all. It's not like you will ever be able to use these settings in any practical application. All it is, is an attempt to get a high score on something that can't be used for anything.
Too much pressure? Causing the unevenness of the mount?
I havent seen the video till the end yet, but why did you have to spoil it in the beginning of it?
go do something fun....you do need a reset .
I love Nick. I am glad to see you guys hanging out together again this is exciting.
I'm occasionally tempted to get into extreme overclocking. But I know I would be spending the whole time raging 100x worse than this, haha.
Would it make sense to lap the GPU core?
"I don't care anymore" pours more in and keeps trying. Lol, we haven't seen the end of this.
I love this process continue your journey to pushing the limits and reach us along the way. Content is amazing
The setback we face its chance for us to really get into more understanding of what we dont understand before. In my opinion, overclocking electronic component not merely base of temperature only. Who said too extreme low temp doesnt hurt component? Like human, we also cant stand too cold weather even our body is superd inteligent being and adjust to temperature. Setback mean we lack of knowlegde just like Jaytwocent said he dont know what caused what....literature make experience perfect. If just blindly following intiution, bull eye hit the wall
Just invite kingpin in to your studio to do an ln2 overclock with those cards.
Jay has mastered dominance over cardboard
These are fun to watch, I’ve always been a fan!
we,ve all been there
You have had parts or money for parts for so long that you don't realize this is the same frustration with having a broken part on a machine and limited resources to troubleshoot. :P
So did he found the issue after-all?
Are we going to chew him out this time for using a torch near cardboard :P
Jay..sometimes just admit it to yourself, some things just out of your comfort zone. Because you don't have the right materials, the proper tools and you lack the material engineering knowledge to handle some the challenges in these endeavors you aim for. Hey. you tried and your contraptions did not live up to you expectations. I've been there and done certain experiments just failed multiple times.Well..at least you aren't alone :)
Too funny 🤣
Don’t advertise pre-builts.
It's true, this is so pointless. So far you can't run LN2 in a system continuously anyway, it's just a big waste of time :p Whenever I overclock, I'm just good to go with max 10 tries, else I don't bother :p
Thanks Jay , actually listened to you and results were great . Been overclocking my 2080Ti on custom loop for two years now , max volts max power etc . Moved the voltage back to stock , I get a bit more overclock on the core AND the memory , it's more stable ( not fluctuating up and down ) and temps are just under 12 Deg C lower ! I shall never doubt your wisdom again ! Now to the CPU !
First off, what was the mistake? All of these videos are utterly useless if you don't share the mistake or bad technique. This is why you try to keep someone around to run through the steps you just took with fresh eyes, so you can watch and look for errors. People rarely see their own mistakes while they're making them. Also, skipping the steps that the guy who does it in his sleep is never a good idea. He's making the suggestions for a reason. Jay is very stubborn about methodology, and is very resistant when things he's managed to have work before don't work for different gear.
The Ln2 vids are the best to watch.
ITS A DAMN "G" CLAMP!!!
Uuuh, I see so many similarities to memory overclocking there. 😬 One setting that worked just fine during an overnight cold boot stress test suddenly produces tons of errors on the next cold boot stress test. Like wtf, I didn't even change anything! 🤬
+1 for no more LN2 - never saw the point - your non-LN2 content is far better :)
So bored with the overclocking videos. Especially since Steve and Paul also made videos doing the same thing.
When the test repeatedly crashes at the beginning. Could it be that you need to use EEC ram. As it looks to be memory corruption that is causing the test to crash. As the temp is transferring to the ram and causing it to have errors. Or as you said at around 23 minutes, the system needs a reboot. Which would clear memory and any memory errors.
Plottwist: The PowerSupply wasnt working stable :>
Don't stop man, it's really exciting tbh, I'm pretty sure you can do it!
You tried your best, but an unknown physical law beat you. I suppose under such extreme circumstances electronics require much more extensive monitoring in order to track minuscule issues.
Don't quit. Just take a step back for a bit. Seriously these videos are fun to watch. Please reconsider your decision.
But.. But...I need more of these videos...
Get a torqueing screwdriver so you can set all the bolts on your mount the same to get even pressure.
Really where did you get the camero thats if you keep it that cold no no thats if you keep it that cold and i still need my pc serviced eventually one day one day i would like my pc to work
I know it may seem frustrating, but honestly seeing the trial and error from someone who's never done something like this before and knows only a small amount more than the average PC builder is actually really interesting to me. Obviously the majority of people don't have the money, the hardware, or the time to do something like this but living vicariously and getting frustrated along side with you is enjoyable, at least it is for me. Regardless of whether you continue these videos or not, they're entertaining, and thank you for trying.
I'm leaving a Like, just because I like YOU. I don't like watching you suffer, because I can relate. Plus, there's nothing worse than someone telling you "you only have to..." or "but it's easy...", when you are having a hard time at it. I nearly kicked the crap out of my best friend once because of that. Hope you can figure this out - because I know that, even when you said you're through with it, the darn gremling will keep anoying you in the back of your neck. Darn gremlins.
Today I built my first pc but its not getting an power I can't figure out why the rgb ram sticks light up but nothing else has power no fans still or anything I thought it was the psu so I ran up to bestbuy and replaced it but same problem occurring also tried to run on one stick of ram instead of 2 but nothing idk what else to try first pc build Amd 3800x G skill trident 32gb 2060 super 850 gold psu 4000d air flow case Aorus x570 elite motherboard
Like who won the 3090???
